On the night of July 25th, 2015, shortly after 11PM, Orangeburg F.D. (Dept. 11) was toned out for an automatic alarm at Cortwood Village. OFD responds to this senior housing complex numerous times during the year, but this call did not turnout like the routine alarm. Chief Lynady (11-1) had heavy fire conditions on arrival and immediately called for mutual aid from the surrounding departments. Between safely evacuating the seniors on a Saturday night, conducting primary searches, and attacking the fire, needless to say, all hands were operating on scene. Chief Simms (21-1) and Assistant Chief Werner (21-2) led crews for an aggressive interior attack inside multiple apartments, conducting searches as well as operating a handline on the opposite side of the fire apartment. Members operated at the scene for over 2 hours and eventually made it back safe and sound to Tappan just before 3AM.

Mutual Aid: 21-1, 21-2, 21-4, 21-5, 21-1501
