On the night of December 20, 2014, members of TFD were enjoying a well deserved Christmas Party/Dinner after putting in a long day hosting the annual children's Christmas Party at the Tappan Firehouse. Shortly after 8PM, as the members were just beginning to dip into dessert, the tone alarm comes in for a reported structure fire. Within 2 minutes of the initial alarm, Chief Freddie Simms (21-1) transmitted a Signal 12 for a working structure fire in a detached garage. With the members already at the firehouse, all TFD units were on scene within minutes and put to work. As always, our mutual aid companies Sparkill and Orangeburg provided assistance as a ladder company and FAST respectively. Fire was extinguished and under control within 20 minutes. Members returned to quarters and finished up the night with desserts and a new story to talk about.
