This year has been a big year for the Tappan Fire Department; sadly with the loss of our 21-1250 the District was forced to move quickly and purchase our new 21-1502 to meet the needs of our community. Secondly the district went ahead and purchased 21-TSU to help meet the demands of pump outs and other miscellaneous tasks around our district.

On April 6th, 2018 Chief Michael Holihan 21-1 signed our new pumper into service. 21-1502 is a Smeal Spartan Pumper outfitted with a 1500 GPM pump, Cummins turbo diesel 6 cylinder paired with an Allison automatic 5 speed transmission. This truck is outfitted with 150ft trash line mounted in the front bumper, three prepiped cross lays, two of which are 200ft of 1¾” diameter hose with a traditional smoothe bore nozzle & the third is 200ft of 2½” with a smooth bore nozzle. Finally in the rear of the truck we have three dead lays (not preconnected to discharge), 1,000ft of 4” diameter hose used for hooking up to a hydrant or another truck to secure a water source, our garden apartment stretch which is comprised of 300ft of 2½” reduced to 300ft of 1¾” with a smooth bore nozzle, and lastly our 600ft of 2½” with a smooth bore nozzle.

On October 16th at 18:08 Our chief also had the honor to sign in our new 21-TSU ( tactical service unit). This unit is a 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4X4 Pickup truck with a 6.2L SOHC 2-Valve Flex Fuel V8 Engine paired with a heavy-duty 6-speed selectshift automatic transmission.
