On the morning of Feb 24th, 2016, the weather was not the ideal conditions for the morning commute. Rain, wind, and cold temps were all factors that led to a vehicle to spin out of control heading 303 northbound shortly after 6AM. The original caller mistakenly reported the accident occurring in Orangeburg, and so our neighboring Orangeburg FD (Dept. 11) was toned out for this call. Upon discovering the incident to be in Tappan, TFD was toned out for the extrication. On arrival, TFD units assisted Orangeburg FD with the initial removal of the door on the driver side and assisted EMS with removing the victim from the vehicle. Teamwork and communication amongst all units on scene, paved the way for a quick and speedy removal of the victim. All units cleared the scene just under an hour from the initial call.
