As in years past, the ladies auxiliary of the VFAT hosted the annual Easter Egg Hunt for the community on Saturday, March 26th, 2016. On the morning of Feb 24th, 2016, the weather was not the ideal conditions for the morning commute. Rain, wind, and cold temps were all factors that led to a vehicle to spin out of control heading 303 northbound shortly after 6AM. Sunday continues to be a busy day for Tappan volunteers

On Sunday afternoon, Tappan F.D. was dispatched for a reported flooding condition at a residential home . En-route during dispatch Assistant Chief Werner (21-2) was notified that the caller was reporting over 6 feet of water in the basement. Early Morning Rescue calls Tappan F.D. into action

It was a Sunday morning around 07:50 hrs, when Tappan FD was toned out for a vehicle extrication on Rte. 303. Within minutes Assistant Chief Werner (21-2) was on scene and discovered the incident was actually off the roadway of route 303, a few hundred feet into a ditch. Capt. Passing of Life Member and Ex-Chief Engineer Harry Johnson

It is with heavy hearts the VFAT announces the passing of Life Member and Ex-Chief Engineer Harry Johnson. Harry was a 47 year member of the department and spent many of those years as our Chief Engineer. On December 2, 2015, at approximately 12:45 hrs, Tappan FD was toned out for a reported backhoe fire at the address of 117 Route 303. On arrival, first due engine 21-1501, reported a fully involved backhoe fire, and began to stretch a line handled by Ex-Chiefs Healey and Garrecht. It was a Sunday funday as the VFAT squared off against Northvale F.D. in our annual shuffleboard tournament. In addition to this year's event we roasted a pig for all to enjoy. At the regularly scheduled meeting of the town board on October 13, 2015, multiple departments/agencies were awarded unit citations for their joint efforts at the structure fire that took place at Cortwood Village in Orangeburg, July 25, 2015. Among the many recipients, Tappan FD was awarded a unit citation, which was humbly accepted by Assistant Chief Wayne Werner.

Tappan F.D. goes to work in Orangeburg

On the night of July 25th, 2015, shortly after 11PM, Orangeburg F.D. (Dept. 11) was toned out for an automatic alarm at Cortwood Village. OFD responds to this senior housing complex numerous times during the year, but this call did not turnout like the routine alarm.
