Car Fire
Assistant Chief Thomas Abraham, March 04
Just after 6AM, Tappan F.D. was dispatched to a reported car fire in the area of the PIP SB Exit Ramp. On arrival, Assistant Chief Abraham (21-2) advised of a working car fire on the exit ramp right next to Tappan Golf. T.F.D. units extinguished the blaze, and cleared the scene within 30 minutes. ... Car Stuck on the Train Tracks

Just before 5:30pm, we were called to assist with a vehicle that was stuck on the train tracks at the Old Tappan Rd crossing. We were able to raise the vehicle using air bags and stabilize it using cribbing for the tow truck to remove it from the tracks. ... (Full Story & Photos)

Motor Vehicle Accident, Rt. 303

On Monday, December 9th, a little after 7pm we were dispatched to Rt. 303 and Kings Highway for an extrication. Chief Holihan (21-1) advised the first arriving crew there was no extrication needed. Tappan F.D. participated in 2019 RCVFA Parade which was jointly hosted by Tallman and Suffern Fire Departments. The greatest calling of being members of emergency services is being there for the community in their time of need, especially when it is one of our own. On August 9th, Tappan F.D. was requested to setup a landing zone for the NYPD chopper with the Deputy Commissioner on board. Propane Leak

On the afternoon of July 17th, Orangeburg F.D. was dispatched to a hazardous materials condition at Beckerle Lumber. With a quick response Orangeburg F.D. (Dept. 11) advised they had a 300 gallon propane tank that had been struck by a forklift and had a large propane leak coming from the tank. Vehicle Accident on 303

It was a sunny afternoon on July 10, when Tappan F.D. was dispatched for a vehicle extrication on Route 303 NB by Campbell Ave. On arrival, Assistant Chief Abraham advised it was a 2 car motor vehicle accident with no entrapment. Luckily the occupants of both vehicles were able to get out themselves prior to our arrival. FD members remained on scene for about 45 min. and then were placed back in service. ... Mutual Aid

Just after 5PM, Tappan F.D. was requested mutual aid to the Dynarex warehouse in Orangeburg, for 1 engine to the scene for confirmed fire in the warehouse. Blauvelt F.D. (Dept. 1) along with Orangeburg F.D. (Dept. 11) had the small fire contained. Tappan F.D. units assisted with minor overhaul and was back in service after 1 hour.... (Full Story & Photos)
