Leo’s unwavering commitment was evident in his active participation on numerous committees, reflecting his dedication to the betterment of our department.

In addition to his contributions to the Volunteer Fire Association, Leo honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1960, further exemplifying his dedication to service and country.

No Caption MUTUAL-AID STAND BY- VILLAGE OF SPRING VALLEY This morning, February 25, 2024, at approximately 05:36 hrs, Department 21 was requested to relocate an engine along with manpower to cover the Village of Spring Valley

This request came in as Department 17 (SVFD) and numerous other mutual aid companies were operating at a multi-alarm structure fire.

Within minutes after dispatch, the members of the Volunteer Fire Association of Tappan assembled, forming a full crew, which allowed 21-1502 to relocate to 17-101
(SV H&L).

Richie served as Chief from 1967-1969, in addition to chief he also served on many committees over the years.

Wake services will be held on Monday, February 5th at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan from 3pm-9pm, with a firematic service held at 6pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 6th at 10 am at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church with burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery.

The effective and rapid response by the Piermont Fire Department led to quick deployment of hose lines, achieving the main body of fire knocked down prior to the arrival of 21-1502.

For Immediate Release: December 29th, 2023 FIRE DAMAGES 2-STORY RESIDENCE ON WINDSOR BROOK LANE IN TAPPAN On December 28th at 16:40 hours, Department 21, alongside 16-99 (Sparkill FD) & 13-FAST (Piermont FD), responded to a reported structure fire at 26

For Immediate Release: December 24th, 2023 FIRE DAMAGES 2-STORY RESIDENCE ON HAMILTON AVENUE IN TAPPAN On December 23rd, 2023, at approximately 15:48 hours, the members of Department 21, along with 16-99 & 13-FAST, were dispatched to 62 Hamilton Avenue

21-1 assumed command shortly after, and 21-2 took operations.

21-1502 arrived first due, and crews quickly stretched to the front door. Encountering multiple locked exterior door’s, 21-1502’s crew forced entry and immediately began fire suppression, with fire primarily located in the kitchen area, spreading rapidly throughout the first and second floors.
