Freddie passed away this morning in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family, after a long and courageous battle with 9/11 related cancer.

Freddie lived and breathed the fire service, from joining the department in March of 1998. He rose up the ranks in the department from Asst. Engineer all the way to Chief of Department from 2014-2016. Freddie’s love for firefighting did not stop there. ... (Full Story & Photos)

Upon arrival, fire was located inside a commercial garage and Piermont FD was reassigned to assist our department members with extinguishing the fire and overhaul with extra assistance from Orangeburg FD.

Old Tappan FD and Northvale FD were requested to standby at our firehouse and eventually Old Tappan FD was requested to relocate to the scene and provide FAST coverage.

Due to an incorrect initial address provided to Rockland 911, Department 11 (Orangeburg Fire Department) was initially dispatched to the incident. Upon arrival, OFD Chief 11-1 identified the correct location and relayed an updated address to Rockland Radio Headquarters.

Department 21 (Tappan Fire Department) was then dispatched. TFD Chiefs 21-1 and 21-2 arrived on the scene and met with a tractor ... (Full Story & Photos)
